Turning to Scripture / Cynthia Greene

Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.(Prov. 4:21-23)

Reading scriptures is one of the ways God communicates with us. Reading and meditating on scripture can strengthen our faith, bring us comfort, guide us, improve our attitude and change our perspective on things.

In the article “How Reading the Bible Affects the Brain“, Dr Michael Feguson reported:

  • “..high amounts of dopamine were released through the body, while reading the Bible. When dopamine is released, you are likely to be more focused, motivated, and happy.”
  • “Reading the Bible can affect neural pathways in the brain. These pathways are in charge of cognitive thinking and behavior.”
  • “…reading the Bible can encourage and inspire praying…”
  • ‘..these chemical reactions that your brain experiences can also affect your thoughts. The more you focus on a particular belief or idea, the stronger your belief in that system will be.”
  • “Next time you open up your Bible, remember there is a lot happening inside your brain. Which all contribute to keeping you and your faith strong.”
