Staying Faithful in Times of Trouble by Cynthia Greene
As believers we are called to watch, remain alert, and be aware of what is happening in the world around us.
“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” (Matthew 24:42)
Today’s news headlines reveal that we are living in times of wars, extreme weather patterns, economic uncertainty, Christian persecution, and acts of evil around the globe.
“But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, the end is not yet. For nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:7-8)
The Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) warns us not to fall asleep while we wait for the bridegroom–the second coming of Jesus. The five wise bridesmaids were spiritually prepared and had their lamps full of oil.
“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13)

It is heartbreaking to hear the stories of those suffering from persecution and at the hands of evil abusers. As Christians we are called to weep and cry for the sorrows that others are going through.
‘Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” (Romans 12;15).
God gave Ezekiel an end-time prophesy that described where God commands a mark to be placed on the foreheads of the righteous in Jerusalem who sigh, groan, and mourn over the city’s evil. This mark acts as a seal of protection and identifies those who are faithful to God in the End Times. God’s people are the ones that cry out for the sinful evil acts that happen.
“..and the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.” (Ezekiel 9:4)
As Believers our hope is found in Revelation 21, where at the return of Jesus Christ to establish God’s Kingdom and the end of sorrow and suffering.

God’s faithful are not promised a life without our own personal trials and suffering. In addition, we will witness the sorrows and tribulations that come upon the world. What we are promised is God’s presence, peace, joy, protection, strength and the fulfillment of His promises.
“His Lord said to Him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you a ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
