Kindness

Does Kindness Really Make a Difference?

Have you ever experienced a day (or even a season in your life) where sadness and discouragement overwhelmed you?  This can lead to thoughts of self-doubt, fear, and feelings of rejection?  You may even start to wonder if anything you do really makes a difference to the people around you-or at all.

These negative thoughts do not come from our loving God.  These thoughts come from the enemy who wants to discourage and prevent us from having peace, joy, and love in our lives. We should test those negative thoughts against what God tells us.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. – 1 John 4:1

Try this step to push aside negative thoughts. Think about how you can show kindness toward someone else.   An act of kindness can be the springboard to turn our thoughts away from ourselves and our own circumstances and replace them with thoughts about others and their needs.

One act of kindness does make a difference.  Think about the ripple effect of one stone thrown into a still body of water.

In a similar way, an act of kindness not only affects the recipient. Because of the ripple effect there is a potential for one act of kindness to affect many more people and circumstances.

Stories of Kindness in Action

Be A Light

God’s word tells us that we are to be a light unto the world so that God is glorified.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” –Matthew. 5:14

God first showed His love to us and Romans 12:10 states:

“Be kindly to one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another.”Romans 12:10

Fruit of the Spirit

How we treat others is an outward testament showing what is in our heart and mind.  A tree is known by its fruit, and Kindness is one of the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).  It is an outward expression of God’s love in action.  It is not a feeling or an emotion but rather it is an action that you intentionally do for another person.

How can you start sowing seeds of Kindness in your life? God blesses our life in many ways and in turn He expects us to show love and kindness to others. (Proverbs 19:17).
