God As Our Father

February 14, 20240 commentsAuthor Cynthia Greene

God reveals Himself to us through the different names in the Bible such as The Creator, Lord, God of the Universe, The Anointed One, and Our Shepherd. As children of God, one of the names we can call Him is “Father”.

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…” (John 3:1)

“After this manner therefore pray: Our Father which art in heaven…” (Mat. 6:9)

“But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” (Is. 64:8)

4 Things About Our Father God:

  1. God the Father is our provider.
    • Philippians 4:19–But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
    • We can trust in Him to provide for all our needs. His timing is always perfect. He promises to
  2. God the Father is always with us.
    • Joshua 1:9–“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
    • Deut. 31:8–“And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
    • We are never alone. God is with us and will never leave us.
  3. God the Father protects us.
    • Psalm 121:7–T”he Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.” (NLT)
    • Psalm 68:5–“A father of the fatherless…”
    • God promises physical (Deut. 7) and spiritual (Eph. 6) protection for His people.
  4. God the Father loves us.
    • John 3:16–“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
    • 1 John 4:19–“We love because God first loved us.”
    • God demonstrated His love to us through the sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ for our sins.
