The Power of God

The Power of God / Author: Sonia McDonald

It is He who made the earth by his power, who established the world by His wisdom, and by His understanding stretched out the heavens.  (Jeremiah 10:12)

The extent of the power of Almighty God is unfathomable to us mere mortals. His Works, Wisdom and Faith are awesome and hard for us to fully comprehend, as the fullness and the magnificence of His Godhead is a mystery and we only see it through a cloudy lens.

By His Spirit He created all things, speaking them into existence. This is the ultimate display of Power.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (Gen 1:2)

You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth.  (Psalm 104:30)

The exactness and precision of His creation in the placement of the planets, sun, stars, moon enabled life to be possible on Earth. If it were just a little bit out, the whole system would fail, but God created it perfectly.

There are astrophysicists that were atheist, but after studying the universe they have become God-fearing believers, due to the perfection they found in the placement of these solar systems.

God’s exactness and perfection in creation is everywhere, starting at the miracle of a single cell and all its intricacies to enable it to function effectively, it is in fact a mini single-celled computer, with an extraordinary ability to perform the task it was created to do. Yehovah’s power and might is evident in everything we look at that He created.

The pouched animals are a fascinating example of His power, wisdom and understanding. Kangaroos have their pouches for their joeys in the front, and they climb into the pouch to be nurtured until they are old enough to be independent, as do the majority of Australian marsupials. The exception being the wombat, her pouch faces backwards, so when she digs her baby’s environment is not compromised with dirt and debris.

Our God is awesome and He cares about all His creation.

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature,  have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.  (Romans 1:20)

Even in His precision in releasing the Israelites from captivity in Egypt, He did it in His perfect exact timing, and displaying great power with plagues engulfing most of Egypt, except for the land of Goshen, where the Israelites resided. (They did have to withstand the first three plagues, so God could reveal His power and His mercy to them.)

The people of Israel had lived in Egypt for four hundred thirty  years; on the very day the four hundred thirty years ended, the LORD’s  divisions of people left Egypt. That night the LORD kept watch to bring them out of Egypt, and so on this same night the Israelites are to keep watch to honour the LORD from now on.  (Exodus 12: 40-42)

This shows how exact our God is in His workings. We truly can trust in His power, might and love.

Yehovah also imparted some of His Spirit to Moses who was able to perform miracles to display God’s power and might to both the Israelites  and the Egyptians. God said that Moses would be like a god to them.

Yeshua’s conception and resurrection bear witness to God’s almighty power and gives us hope for the resurrection from the dead and becoming part of His Family at the appointed time. The millions of miracles Christ performed also bear witness to God’s unmeasurable power, as He raised people from the dead, healed the lame, the blind, the sick, the lepers and fed the multitude from very little. He walked on water and was teleported on several occasions. He commanded the storm to stop and quietened the raging sea. Father and Christ’s power is supreme and indisputable.

All the things Christ did were witness to the power and might of God, to God’s glory. The power given to the apostles from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit allowed them to perform incredible miracles, similar to what Christ did  during His ministry.

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  Matthew 19:26

And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.  Luke 24:49

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.  Acts 1:8

The Apostles, as Christ indicated, would perform great miracles in His name, healing all sorts of ailments and even raising the dead back to life.  They received this power from the Holy Spirit. We are all God’s tapestry that He is working to complete. He brings people into our lives for a blessing or a lesson, but all to perform His purpose for us. God’s power and might are inconceivable to the mere human mind. He has only good in store for us, so even when going through tough trials, we must remember that He sees the big picture and we don’t, we must trust in His power and love. He will get us  through the trials as His power is all encompassing.

God knows the end from the beginning, and the beginning from the end. How blessed are we to be called into His Family, from before the foundation of the world. His plans and thoughts are so far above human reasoning. Just imagine all the things God put into place, just so we could receive the calling. He then nurtures each of us individually, giving us different experiences to develop the character which will be useful to Him and others in the coming Kingdom. We serve and glorify an awesome and omnipotent Almighty God. Thank you, Father, for calling the weak and base things of the world and bringing us into your family.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.  Romans 15:13

But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.  1 Corinthians 2:23-24

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.  Ephesians 3:20-21

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.  Knowing His Power, Goodness and Might, my sisters in Christ, we can have faith in His judgements and plan for the salvation of mankind and be confident that all things work for the best, for those who love God (keep His Commandments) and are called according to His purpose.  Ephesians 6:10

I think this verse sums it all up: Isaiah 45:22:

“Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.”

Thank you Father for all you do for us, in your grace and mercy, showing us so much love and compassion, and the magnificence of your power.  Through Christ’s precious and Holy name. Amen.
