Thankfulness Every Day

December 1, 20251 commentAuthor Cynthia Greene

God calls us in Scripture to be thankful and to live with a heart of gratitude. When we include gratitude in our daily lives, it changes our attitude and shapes our mindset. We begin to notice the blessings all around us—big and small—and recognize the ways God is continually at work in our lives.

Below are some scriptures to reflect and meditate on:

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus…”

Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Psalm 92:1-2 “It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night…”

Psalm 26:7 “…proclaiming aloud your praise and telling of all your wonderful deeds.”

Psalm 50:14 “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High..”

Psalm 100:4 “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”

Psalm 103:1 “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.”

Psalm 105:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.”

Suggested Actions:

  • Keep a gratitude journal — Write down 3–5 things you’re thankful for each day.
  • Photo gratitude log — Take a daily picture of something that brings you joy.
  • Pray in thanks — Start or end your day with a thankful prayer.
  • Speak gratitude aloud — Say one thing you’re grateful for each morning.
  • Meditate on blessings — Spend a few quiet minutes focusing on what went well.
  • Send thank-you messages — Text or write a note to someone you appreciate.
  • Sing praise songs — Use music to inspire a grateful mindset.
  • Gratitude walk — Take a short walk and mentally list things you’re thankful for.
  • Share gratitude at meals — Go around the table and name something you’re thankful for.
  • Evening reflection — Before bed, review your day and find one good moment, no matter how small.

Reminding us of the little things puts reality into life and prayers. You are so good at that. Reminds me of the Bless the LORD Psalm:

PSALMS 103:1-2, 21-22 Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: … 21 Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, who do His pleasure. 22 Bless the LORD, all His works, in all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!
