Lessons From a Robin
Author: J. Baker
I had an interesting observation that I never dreamed of experiencing. Looking out the window while eating breakfast I observed a robin alight on the gutter down spout. I didn’t pay much attention till the next morning when I saw that it was back again. I thought to myself surely it is not going to build a nest there, but then I noticed some strands in its beak. It started bringing more and more strands, but they kept falling off but she was persistent and keep going down and picking them back up. Talk about “Never Give Up”. That night the wind was severe and blew the entire nest she was building down to the ground. My persistent newfound friend just dropped to the ground and commenced to put it back on the gutter and continued to build with her beak and wing winding up the straw and other weeds until she build a very nice nest.
I thought to myself “Am I that persistent to study God’s Word?” Even if it gets confusing and sometimes seems to contradict itself do I just keep studying?” or “Do I just turn the page and go to another subject?”
It would be much better for me to have the persistence to stick with a topic until I am convinced I understand the subject completely.
Each day another challenge presents itself, so I pray and I remember the persistent robin so I do not let my Father or my Savior down. God knows each one my challenges and wants me to be persistent in sticking with His Word until I am convinced and understand the subject completely.
Scriptures to Ponder
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. – Galatians 6:9
And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. – Luke 11:9-10
As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good. – 2 Thessalonians 3:13
