Bless God! by Sara Beth

Biblical Blessing

Biblical blessing is a relational gift. It something you are incapable of giving to yourself, yet another person is capable of giving it to you. Blessing implies receiving something desirable from outside our capacity and realm of manifestation and control. Blessings are granted freely as a gift or honor. They are typically not expected, anticipated, or foreseen.

God Blesses Us

Blessings from God are supernatural. We cannot earn or demand them. Without Jesus the Christ, there is no reason, cause, or justification for God to bless us. His divine gifts are completely within God’s power to create, control, and deliver in perfect timing.

  • with forgiveness Romans 4:7-8, Psalm 32:1-2
  • with fruitfulness Genesis 1:22
  • with His Holy Spirit Isaiah 44:3
  • with instruction Psalm 32:8, Psalm 94:12
  • with our needs Deuteronomy 2:7
  • with His strength in us Psalm 84:5
  • with helpful weather Deuteronomy 33:13
  • with peace Psalm 29:11
  • when we fear Him Psalm 115:13
  • when we trust Him Psalm 34:8, Psalm 2:2b
  • when we delight in His commands Psalm 5:12, Psalm 112:1
  • when we do His commandments Revelation 22:14, Deuteronomy 28:1-14
  • when we’re faithful and wise Matthew 24:46
  • when we learn His statutes Psalm 119:12
  • when we avoid ungodly counsel Psalm 1:1
  • by preventing curses Numbers 22:12

We Bless God

How can I bless God — Who is and has everything? There is something He desires to have, that is within our power to give Him. God craves our communication! He desires and welcomes our voluntary freely-given communication.  As a rule, He doesn’t use His power to create and control our thoughts and words to Him. We, the created, have the power to create something new-and-unique — as a gift to Him! We may communicate with Him in any and all of His roles:  Creator, King, Lord, Father, Daddy, Friend, Judge, etc. We bless God with our free-willed, wholehearted communication, alone and also as a group, in any form such as:

  • thoughts
  • spoken words
  • written words
  • sung words
  • shouted words
  • feelings
  • sitting still
  • courageous actions of obedience
  • requests for His blessing
  • never forget His blessings! Psalm 103 whole (vs 2)
  • unsearchable! everyday & forever! Psalm 104
  • overwhelming wonderment! Psalm 145 whole (vs 2)
  • high accolades! Revelation 7:12
  • for His counsel, instruction Psalm 16:7
  • for His visits and redemption (sent Jesus Christ) Psalm 68:35
  • for power and strength Luke 1:68
  • for wondrous things Psalm 72:18-19
  • for sending a peacemaker 1 Samuel 25:32-33
  • for providing a husband Ruth 4:14
  • for teaching us how to fight Psalm 144:1
  • for giving us wisdom and might Daniel 2:19-20
  • because He keeps His promises 1 Kings 8:56

Mutual Relationship

ALL biblical blessings are based upon a two-way relationship of loving trust and commitment.  Continual companionship. It is a relational gift of communication within the relationship.  It’s nigh impossible to have a relationship without two-way communication. We bless each other without demanding something in return. Our hope and desire is to build, maintain, and nurture the relationship. It’s a supernatural relationship between flesh and spirit, through the Spirit of God, made possible by Jesus the Christ, that is poised to last for eternity!

BLESS GOD NOW & FOREVER!

  • 1 Peter 1:3 & 8 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of  Jesus Christ from the dead. … Whom having not seen, ye love, in Whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.
  • Psalm 67 May God be merciful to us, and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us so that Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations. May the people praise You, God, may all the people praise You. May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations of the earth. May the people praise You, O God. May all the people praise You. Then shall the land yield its harvest, and God, our God, shall bless us. God shall bless us and all on earth shall fear Him.
  • Psalm 41:13 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting and to everlasting,

Amen, and Amen.

  • Galatians 6:8 For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
